BNSF Memorial Run

Well first of all I want to thank Dave and Paul for the tickets. We really enjoyed the train ride. My
boys are telling everyone they see about it.

Thank you Dave and Paul

Well our evening started off with Dave and Kim meeting Deb, the girls, myself and the boys around 5’ish at Deb and Brad’s house. From there we proceeded to BNSF Depot. We arrived about 20 mins early to make sure that we did not miss the train. When we pulled into the lot the kids got really excited. They walked up to the train and climbed on with out hesitation. We sat in a double decker coach car. Dave and Kim sat on the main level while the kids, Deb and I headed upstairs to sit. Then with a jerk and some rocking from side to side we were off. Gunnar’s eyes got big and the other 3 kids just grinned and said “We’re moving, we’re moving”. We were eastward bound to Towner. As we rolled through Minot the kids could hardly take their eyes away from the window. A gentleman came round with some drinks. After a little while Dave I headed to look for another place to sit. We found room in the upper level of the lounge car, 2 cars ahead of where we were. So we headed back to get the rest of the gang. Gage and Gunnar were carried as they weren’t to sure about the crossing in between the cars due to the rocking and bouncing. Dave led the way as he could easily open the doors between the cars. The kids enjoyed the ride as they would ask questions on what things were or point things out us. On the way to Towner Dave and Kim got interviewed by the local news. (Not sure if was on the news though as I didn’t get home until 11p) Once we got to Towner we sat for about 30 mins. In that time we got to see another train pass by us. The kids thought this was pretty neat (I have to admit I thought this was really neat as well). They laughed out loud and just watched it go by. Then we were headed back to Minot. The trip back to Minot seem to go faster.

As you can tell Gage enjoyed the departure. Gunnar on the other had wasn't so sure about it.

Here are the kids shortly into the train ride. As you can see thought the sight was pretty need. Abby was a little tired as she came straight from a Baseball game Brad was coaching.

Here are the kids watching the other train pass by us. They just laughed and watched it speed by us.

As for the boys and myself we throughly enjoyed our first train ride.
